Heritage Centre Gets Set For Olympic Exhibition

27/06/2012 - From the Olympic swimmer who forgot his swimming trunks to the fastest man in the world's love of chicken nuggets, visitors to Eastwood's D.H. Lawrence Heritage Centre can discover the lighter side of the Olympic Games at a special Olympic exhibition between Saturday 30th June and Sunday 26th August.

The exhibition at the Heritage Centre, Mansfield Road, Eastwood will give visitors the chance to learn more weird and wonderful facts about the Olympics and get creative at the have-a-go drawing and craft area.

Entries to the attraction's recent Children and Young Person's Olympic themed Art and Writing Competition will also be on display, with a special award ceremony taking place in the Rainbow Gallery on Saturday 30th June at 1.00pm where the Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Margaret Handley will award gold, silver and bronze rosettes and prizes to the winners.

The competition has been judged by a team of amateur and professional artists and writing enthusiasts, including local artists Adrian Lloyd and Mike Tomlinson, photographer Alan Clayden, Gordon Butler from Eastwood Writers, Malcolm Gray from the D.H. Lawrence Society and Dr. Sarah Davison from the School of English at the University of Nottingham.

Admission is £1.50, £1.00 for Broxtowe Leisure Card holders and free for under 16 years.
