Important - August 2013 Bank Holiday Refuse Collections

On your new refuse collection calendars, we have wrongly marked the week commencing 19th August 2013 as a Bank Holiday week when in fact it's the week after (commencing 26th August). We apologise for any confusion this may cause.

Residents with a 'South A' or 'South B' calendar whose collections take place on a Friday should also note the following information for their garden collections:

Garden collections usually picked up on a Saturday will be collected as follows: Saturday 11th May on Mon 13th, and Sat 31st August on Mon 2nd September.

Amended versions of the calendars are available online using the 'When is my bin collection?' service page showing the correct dates, including changes due to Bank Holidays and other events affecting collections.

New Paint donation facility at Lilac Grove, Beeston - HWRC

Community RePaint - Exterior 2

Tins of paint should never be put in your bin at home, unless they are empty or contain only solid dried-up paint residue. When tins of paint from a wheelie bin are crushed in the back of a rubbish truck, the paint can spill onto the street and cause problems.

A much better idea is to donate unwanted paint to a Community Repaint scheme. Lilac Grove, Beeston's - Household Waste and Recycling site now has a paint donation facility. Trained site staff will sort through each tin of paint to check whether it can be put into the reuse scheme.

Tins of paint suitable for reuse are labelled and displayed on shelves in the Community RePaint Nottinghamshire container according to colour and type. Community and voluntary groups registered on the scheme make an appointment to visit the site and can take the donated paint away free of charge.

Tins of paint that cannot be reused, will not be put into the reuse scheme but will be sent for specialist treatment. The metal or plastic containers will also be recycled where possible.

Please click Re-Paint Community Scheme for further information or to find out how to register your Community group in order to take advantage of the free paint offer.
