How to Pay

Information relating to how to pay your business rates.

Everyone has the automatic right to pay by ten monthly instalments (usually from 1 April to 1 January) each financial year. However you may request to pay your rates bill over 12 months. Please note that where a request is received before the start of a financial year 12 monthly instalments will be given where possible. If the request is received after the start of the financial year then instalments will be given for the remaining whole months. To request 12 monthly instalments please see the contact details for Customer Services.

You can also pay by one lump sum on 1 April, or by two half yearly payments due on 1 April and 1 September.

The preferred method of payment is by direct debit. The payment date for direct debits is the 15th day of the month, so direct debit payers pay a little later.
