Direct Debit Logo
Paying by Direct Debit

Direct Debit allows your regular bills to be paid from your bank or building society account when they become due. This is the easiest way to make payment because your bank or building society does all the work and yet you remain in control.

You can now set up a Direct Debit for the following services, by phoning our Customer Services section:

  • Business Rates
  • Council Tax

For Business Rates you benefit from a later payment date and for Council Tax you can pick one of 4 dates each month that is more convenient to you.

Direct Debit gives you total control over your payments. You will be given at least 10 working days' notice of amounts to be collected and any changes to those amounts. A full and immediate refund is given by your bank or building society in the unlikely event of a mistake being made.

Further information about the benefits and guarantees of Direct Debit can be found on the right hand side.
