- Animal Boarding
  To keep a boarding establishment (cattery or kennels) or to look after other peoples dogs within your own home you will need a licence from Broxtowe Borough Council.

  To run a caravan and camping site you need a licence from Broxtowe Borough Council.

- Cooling Tower
  If you control non-domestic premises, you must ensure that you notify the local authority of any cooling tower or evaporative condenser (notifiable devices) on the premises. You must notify Broxtowe Borough Council of any changes to the notification information in writing within one month of the change. If the device ceases to be a notifiable device, you must notify Broxtowe Borough Council in writing as soon as possible.

- Environmental Permitting
  If you carry out activities that can affect the environment and in particular affect emissions to air, water or land (Part A2) or air only (Part B) you must hold a permit for your installation or mobile plant from Broxtowe Borough Council. Varied processes require permitting for example the cremation of human remains, animal feed manufacture and vehicle spraying. Please note other processes may require permitting by the Environment Agency.

- Hairdresser Registration
  The Deregulation and Contracting Out Act 1994 has eliminated the need for hairdressers to be registered, however activities such as Ear Piercing, Electrolysis, Tattooing and Acupuncture, and the employment of employees still require to be registered.

- House to House
  A permit is required to undertake a 'house to house' collection, under the House to House Collections Act 1939. House to house collections, include collecting in public houses, factories and offices as well as houses, to collect money or goods on the basis that part of the proceeds will go to a charity.

  The Licensing Section deals with applications for licences in relation to the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005 (including small society lotteries), taxi licensing, house to house and street collections, massage & special treatment Licences and sex establishments.   To run a business as a motor salvage operator, you need to register with Broxtowe Borough Council. Activities undertaken by these businesses include recovering salvageable parts from scrap motor vehicles and repairing or selling "written off" vehicles.

- Pet Shop
  To run a business selling pet animals you need a licence from Broxtowe Borough Council. This includes all commercial selling of pet animals, including pet shops and businesses selling animals over the internet.

- Riding Establishment
  Persons or stables that hire out horses for riding or instruction must be licensed by Broxtowe Borough Council. If new animals are to be used, a variation must be applied for.

- Scrap Metal
  Any individual or business dealing with scrap metal must register with the local authority. Any changes (including ceasing activities) to a registered business must also be notified. Registration ceases after 3 years unless a further application has been made.

  To operate a zoo you will need a licence from Broxtowe Borough Council. Zoos are establishments where wild animals are kept for exhibition to which members of the public have access. Zoos include butterfly houses, aquaria and wild bird sanctuaries in addition to traditional zoos and safari parks.
