(1) Take path alongside Hillendale House, walk over stile, down steps &carefully cross main road. Follow driveway ahead & then cross stile on right hand side into field.
(2) Proceed diagonally across field to far corner. As field starts to dip, you will see a stile & hedge to the left. Do not cross stile but walk alongside hedge, keeping it on your left hand side. Walk over planks, crossing Gilt Brook, through kissing gate on far side &into field ahead. Walk straight-ahead, keeping hedge on left hand side, through kissing gate & into next field. Continue straight with hedge on right & go through next kissing gate.
(3) Cross track to kissing gate opposite. Continue straight with hedge on left hand side & at stile turn right (don't go over stile) making for kissing gate on other side of field. Once through this, walk around edge of field, aiming for hedge climbing towards Greasley Church.
(4) Go through kissing gate & up hill to church.
(5) Go through kissing gate & continue to path. Turn left & follow path leading away from church, signed to Moorgreen, passing through graveyard. Go through kissing gate into field & continue straight ahead with hedge on right. As field dips, bear left away from hedge & aim for kissing gate in hedge ahead.
(6) Go through gate & walk straight ahead to follow right of way leading to Moorgreen Village. This means not taking the farm tracks to the left or right, but walking along the right hand side of the fencing in the field ahead, keeping farm buildings to your right.
(7) Cross road & turn left. Then look out for wide entrance to grassy footpath on the right, go through gap by gate & follow track to end. Go over stile & turn left into field, heading for stile on the opposite side.
(8) Go over stile, turn right & keeping hedge on your right hand side walk to far end of field. Go through kissing gate & turn right onto path through Colliers Wood. Follow the mineral line straight ahead until you reach an exit out of the Wood, (located by sharp left turn in path) which you should take. There is an information board about Colliers Wood at this point.
(9) Turn right at road (B600), cross to other side & walk uphill to Horse & Groom public house.
(10) At the pub, turn right onto continuation of road (Moorgreen) & go through village on the left hand side of the road. Immediately after house no. 16 you will see a sign for a public footpath, turn left here & through kissing gate.
(11) Once in field, turn right & keeping hedge on right hand side, pass through three fields & a kissing gate into the village of Newthorpe. Turn left when you reach the road.
(12) On the bend of the road you will come to a Blacksmith's. Turn Left here onto the road below & take the footpath between numbers 7 & 8 Greenacres Close. Follow track to kissing gate.
(13) Through gate, turn right & walk down field, keeping hedges on right hand side. Go through gate & carry straight on, ignoring paths to left or right. Walk straight ahead, through another field & then go through kissing gate.
(14) 2/3 of the way down this next field, follow the path bearing diagonally left (45 degrees) to a gate & concrete bridge over Gilt Brook.
(15) Cross bridge, turn left & follow stream. Cross stile into field & bearing right slightly, come away from stream towards scrub land ahead. Follow left bearing path through trees back to stream.
(16) Cross bridge & turn right once through gate, along path following stream. Pass through two more kissing gates, still following path near to stream until reaching a crossing that you might recognise from near the start of the walk.
(17) Cross stream, over stile & follow path - hedge on right - for short distance to stile. Go over stile, turn left up field - hedge on left - to another stile at top of field.
(18) Cross stile, turn right & follow track around cottages. At road cross over, climb steps & continue along path to return to beginning of route.
