(1) From car park walk through pedestrian opening onto road running alongside car park (Coventry Lane), turn right, cross at pedestrian crossing & walk up to the entrance to the Hemlock Stone.
(2) After entering open space, you will reach a fork in the path. Take the centre path for the most direct route to the Hemlock Stone, or for an easier route, follow the right hand fork, which brings you below & then up behind the Stone.
(3) To see the triangulation point at the top of Stapleford Hill, head upwards on any of the paths until reaching the top. (Please note that trees can obstruct the intended view of the surrounding areas). When you are finished here, head back downhill towards the Hemlock Stone.
(4) As you come back down to the Stone, take the path going left & downhill through the trees, to re-meet Coventry Lane at a different entrance point, higher up the road.
(5) Cross the road & go up the wooden steps diagonally opposite. At this point you might wish to follow the fingerpost sign & visit the walled garden & Holocaust Memorial. When you are ready return to this point & climb the steps upwards, signed Bramcote Woods. Follow this path upwards & then bear left, which takes you around the left hand side of the hills.
(6) Turn left at the finger post, signed Robin Hood Way & Wollaton Park. Then take the next path on the left, going out of the woods - school buildings will be on the right hand side.
(7) At T-junction of paths turn right, passing the rear of Bramcote Manor Public House. When you reach the next junction of paths, turn right & walk up Moor Lane.
(8) As lane turns into a residential street, look out for a road on the left hand side, called Dean Croft (just past school entrance). Take path opposite this road onto the school playing field. You will be exiting the field in the far left hand corner, so follow the LH side perimeter hedges until you reach the exit onto Derby Road.
(9) Turn right along the main road &cross at pedestrian crossing continuing uphill until reaching Church Street. Turn left into Church Street & walk up to junction (see interpretation board for information on Bramcote Village) where you will turn left into Town Street.
(10) At the junction of Cow Lane & Moss Drive, turn right up Moss Drive. At fork in road, take the right hand path, which is a private drive but has footpath access. Follow footpath until you come to an iron gate & go through kissing gate on right into field.
(11) Cross field diagonally to far left hand corner of field with a stile just out of view until you get nearer. Cross stile & follow track & then at first fork take either path.
(12) At next fork, turn right & go straight across two fields & over a stile to Baulk Lane.
(13) Turn right, passing over A52 & follow path round to the right until it becomes a regular street & meets Nottingham Road.
(14) Cross road & turn right, then immediate left onto Ewe Lamb Lane. After short distance, take first road on right (Marshall Drive) & continue until road joins Ilkeston Road.
(15) Turn left & cross by pedestrian crossing, entering Bramcote Park by entrance in front.
(16) Walk left along cycle path, to return to start point & car park.
