Deposit Guarantee Scheme
To be eligible for this scheme you must be homeless or threatened with homelessness, have a connection with the Borough, be entitled to receive some level of Housing Benefit and be seeking accommodation in Broxtowe.
Many people, who require accommodation, look to the private rented sector for housing, but this often proves very difficult as landlords often ask for a deposit (usually equal to one month's rent).
If you do not have enough money to meet this requirement but feel you may be eligible to apply for help through the Council's Deposit Guarantee Scheme then you should contact the Council's Homelessness Prevention Officers for further information. It may be possible for us to provide a guarantee for the deposit.
If you are deemed to be eligible for the scheme we will need to also ensure that the property is safe and affordable, subject to earnings or Local Housing Allowance and an inspection of the property by our Private Sector Housing team.
Remember you do not have to be homeless before you contact us. If you are threatened with homelessness, we may be able to prevent it or at least advise you on your legal rights to remain in your home for as long as possible.
For further information about the Deposit Guarantee Scheme or to arrange an appointment please contact the Homelessness Prevention Officer.
