Bramcote Arts Tower Project

Posted 29th February 2008 - New sculptural seats, interpretation information and a new stained glass window are to be created for the Old Tower, Bramcote.

Sculptor Andy Smith and representatives from the ESCAPE stained glass group are inviting local people to come along to an event at the Memorial Hall, Church Street, Bramcote on Sat. 23rd February to share ideas and information about how these new installations should look. Everyone is welcome to have a go at sculpting with clay or to design a stained glass window as well or just simply to talk to the artists.

The Bramcote Conservation Society have been successful in gaining an Awards for All grant and other funding to pay for the new features and they are inviting young and old, families, individuals and groups to take part in shaping the project. (Children must be accompanied by an adult).

Inspiration for designs will be based on the history of the tower, myths, legends, flora and wildlife in the churchyard including the bats that live in the tower. A representative of the Bat Society will be bringing live bats and the representatives from Broxtowe Borough Council, Conservation Society and History Group will be there to share ideas.

Any one interested in being involved should drop in between 10.00am and 4.00pm or contact Broxtowe Borough Council Leisure and Cultural Services on 0115 917 3695 for more information.
