Nottingham Canal To the north of the Borough, around Eastwood you can explore the countryside roamed by in his youth, 'the country of my heart' as he called it. You can follow the Blue Line Trail and see many of the buildings and areas associated with Lawrence, including his birthplace and three other houses where he lived.

The Nottingham Canal Trail runs south from Eastwood to the edge of Bramcote Hills Park in the snow Stapleford, a distance of 14km. Since it was bought by the Council in 1977, it has been developed as a Nature Reserve and Leisure facility, and now provides an important habitat for a diverse flora and fauna.  Other walks include the Monks Way, which runs between Cossall and Strelley, and Colliers Wood, a Community Forest with paths and trails located between Eastwood and Moorgreen in the north of the Borough.
