Opening hours

From 2010 we are open Tuesday to Friday and Sundays:

Summer Season (April to October)10:00 - 17:00
Winter Season (November to March)10:00 - 16:00

D.H. Lawrence Heritage will be closed over the Christmas and New Year period from Saturday 25th December 2010 until Monday 3rd January 2011.

2010 Admission Charges

  • Adult - £2.50
  • Child/ Concessions - £1.75
  • Family Ticket - £5.60

Tickets entitles the holder admission to both the Museum and Durban House Heritage Centre. 

Group Visits

Due to the limited size of our site Groups visits must be booked in advance. See right hand menu for catering options available. We can accommodate up to 40 visitors at one time across our two sites. Please contact us for further details.

Durban House With Marquee How to find us

From the M1 Junction 26, take the A610 towards Eastwood and follow the 'D.H. Lawrence Heritage' brown tourism signs. From M1 Junction 27, take the A608 through Brinsley towards Eastwood.

As you get into Eastwood there are two sets of brown heritage signs to take you to either the museum or to Durban House Heritage Centre. Please note only Durban House has its own car park.  (NB the two sites are only five minutes walk apart.)

D.H. Lawrence Heritage is situated close to IKEA Retail Park, which is also signposted from the motorway.

Parking - Durban House Heritage Centre

There is free visitor car and coach car parking available at Durban House Heritage Centre, although a coach space must be booked in advance. There are dedicated disabled parking spaces at the front of the building.

Parking - D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum

There is no car park at the museum, however there are two public car parks within 100 metres of the museum entrance, each with disabled car parking spaces.  As you turn down Victoria Street from Nottingham Road, one car park is on the right hand side and the other car park is left onto Scargill Walk and situated at the end. Car Parking is free for up to 1 hour, maximum stay 3 hours - a valid parking ticket must be obtained for free and paid for car parking.

D.H. Lawrence Heritage is accessible by Trent Barton buses on both the Rainbow Line Number 1 Riley/Nottingham and the Black Cat bus Mansfield/Derby. The bus stop is located a short walk away, less than 5 minutes walk. See the right hand menu for a link to the Trent Barton website.

The nearest train station is in Langley Mill approximately 2 miles away.

Accessibility

There is full disabled access to Durban House Heritage Centre. Access to the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum is limited to the downstairs rooms with assistance only. Please also be aware that the rooms are small with low-level lighting. Please see our Access Statements in the right hand menu for further details.
