Cemeteries
Broxtowe Borough Council is responsible for the general management of five cemeteries.
The cemeteries at Eastwood and Kimberley have gardens of remembrance, where cremated remains can be scattered. Please be aware these two cemeteries also have Books of Remembrance in the Chapel, with a page allocated for each day of the year. For security the Chapels are kept locked but access can be obtained by arrangement with the Cemeteries Officer.
All the cemeteries have separate areas for the burial of cremated remains although existing graves may be used for this purpose.
Beeston Cemetery has a chapel where the funeral service can take place prior to the interment. Music is permitted and a power source is available in all the chapels.
At least one month prior to the erection of a headstone or placing of a vase, details and a note of the inscription must be sent to the Cemeteries Officer.
The relevant forms are available from local Funeral Directors and Stonemasons who will make the necessary arrangements.
All floral tributes, with the exception of permanent artificial displays, will be removed from the grave for disposal 21 days after the funeral in Winter, and 14 days in Summer unless the family request otherwise.
All new burials now take place in the cemeteries' lawn sections. In such areas the planting of flowers, shrubs etc. around graves is not permitted. Cut flowers and wreaths are however allowed immediately in front of the memorial.
