Shaw Trust Accreditation

Shaw Trust carried out an accessibility audit on the Broxtowe Borough Council website and awarded the Shaw Trust Web Accreditation Accessible + between the 31st January 2012 to 30th January 2013.

Web usability and accessibility is about making web sites accessible and usable to all users regardless of ability or technology being used.

About the audit

The Shaw Trust web accreditation process is rigorous. Over 60 hours of testing by disabled web users goes into each and every accreditation, in addition to a stringent technical assessment.

The Accessibility Audit checks that users with special accessibility requirements can access, navigate and read information on the Council's website.

The assessment is based on comprehensive user testing that considers a range of accessibility requirements for users with little or no vision, colour blindness, deafness, dyslexia and cognitive or learning difficulties.

The results

The Broxtowe Borough Council website has achieved a high level of accessibility and has been awarded the Shaw Trust 'Accessible +' rating.

Any web site carrying this mark has been tested by people with a wide range of disabilities and was found to be accessible.
