Councillor Richard MacRae is an Independent Councillor for Stapleford North. Born in 1971, he grew up in the local area.

Richard attended Frederick Harrison Infant School, Stevenson Junior School and Bramcote Park Comprehensive before completing a YTS Course as an Electronics Engineer.

Since then, he has worked at Dominos Pizza alongside his brother Pete, Marks and Spencers Warehouse and as a Door Supervisor and Head Doorman at some of Nottingham's most famous clubs and pubs.

After being diagnosed with having Osteoarthritis in the left leg, Richard had to retire from 'working the doors' and soon set up Stapleford Community Group, which he now runs full time.

Richard is a member of  the Planning Committee, Stapleford Advisory Group and Chairman of the Positive Communities Committee. He is also a member of Stapleford Joint CAT Meetings.

Much of Richard's time is devoted to community and voluntary groups in Stapleford including as Chairman of Stapleford Community Group, as well as being part of Stapleford Combined Service Club, New Stapleford Community Association, Stapleford Town Team, Stapleford Traffic & Transport Committee and Universal Zulu Nation UK Chapter.

In his spare time he is interested in computers, films and documentaries, music, Stapleford history and organising community events.
