How can I make my home more eco and environmentally friendly?
Turn it off
Leaving any electrical appliances on standby uses up energy. To help reduce your carbon footprint and conserve energy switch it off and you will soon start to see the difference in your energy bills.
Any food a little bit too far by it's 'best by' then make the decision to start composting rather than throwing it out. This will reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill as well as creating a natural fertiliser and keeping your garden fresh and green.
Stop Wasting Food
To cut down on food waste, eat seasonally and plan meals in advance, wasting food adds to the amount of C02 being created in landfills.
When you choose to shop closer to home the less carbon is created with their transportation. You will also be supporting the local economy which is a great added bonus.
Cut out plastic
When you're out shopping take a canvas bag with you or buy your fruit and veg loose. Stop buying bottled water and invest in a reusable water bottle instead.
With the warm weather approaching hang your clothes outside to dry instead of using the tumble dryer
Donate clothes instead of throwing them in the bin
Use recyclable paper when wrapping gifts
Eat less meat
Use leftover bathwater to water your plants
