Broxtowe Health Partnership

Broxtowe Health Partnership

The focus of the Partnership is to identify and reduce health inequalities and social exclusion by developing and supporting strong partnerships with organisations delivering against health and wellbeing priorities for our area.

Our core themes are:

  • Smoking

  • Alcohol

  • Obesity

  • Mental Health

A sub group of the BHP is the Older People's Group which focuses on specific issues for older people, e.g. Dementia, loneliness, slips, trips and falls.

Smoking is the main cause of avoidable illness and premature death in the U.K. Half of the smokers who continue to smoke for the rest of their lives die of a smoking related disease.

Obesity is on the rise and if it continues to rise at its current rate it is predicted that up to 48% of men and 43% of women in the UK could be obese by 2030.

How to avoid Slips, Trips and Falls - a booklet devoted to hints and tips and lifestyle changes in order to avoid slips, trips and falls.  The booklet may be downloaded by clicking on the link on the right.

The Broxtowe Health Partnership does not seek to stand alone, and will work with other groups within the wider Local Strategic Partnership who share priorities and cross cutting themes.  Linked action plans and shared membership where appropriate will ensure a collaborative approach to delivery.
