Environment Task Group

The Task Group aims to ensure Broxtowe will be a clean and green place; an attractive area in which to live, work and play and where the environment is cared for and respected both today and for future generations to come.

Priorities for the group from the Sustainable Community Strategy 2010-2020 include:

  • Take positive action to tackle issues relating to climate change

  • Reduce waste and increase the level of recycling

  • Take positive action to improve access to, and availability of, public and alternative transport and to increase its use by residents and businesses

  • Reduce road congestion and associated pollution

  • Achieve cleaner and greener public spaces by improving the condition of the local environment across the borough.

  • Reduce Fuel poverty

The group is made up or organisations from Broxtowe and Nottinghamshire such as Greening Beeston, Nottingham Energy Partnership, Ridewise Ltd, Broxtowe Borough Council, Citizen Advice, Nottinghamshire County Council, Greenwood and Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.

The group delivers an action plan each year with partners.  Example of a few actions over the last few years include wildlife events "Nocturnal Nature Night Brinsley headstocks", insulation projects, healthy homes project, promoting switching fuel supplier, fuel debt advice, winter warmth campaigns, cycle training and more.
