How do I apply for housing?
The easiest way to apply to our housing register is through the Homesearch website using the link on this page.
You will need to provide proof of identification and supporting documents to enable your application to be processed.
Applications from Council tenants are called Transfer Applications and are assessed in the same way as all other housing applications.
What happens when I apply for housing?
Once all the required information has been received, your application will be assessed. You will be allocated a band, depending on your circumstances. More information about the bands can be found on the Homesearch website.
You will be sent a registration letter, which will include:
Your registration number
What band your application has been placed into
What your effective date is
You will be able to place bids on advertised properties when you have received your registration letter.
How often are properties advertised?
Properties are advertised every week from Thursday at 00:01 a.m. until Tuesday at 11:59 p.m.
How do I place bids?
Bids can be placed in the following ways:
Logging into your Homesearch account
Automated telephone service - 0300 011 0311
In person at the Council Offices
Contacting the Lettings team
What happens after the advertising cycle closes?
After the advertising cycle closes a shortlist of applicants who have bid for each property is generated. Applicants will then be assessed on priority and length of time on the register. If you are successful you will be contacted by telephone or letter.
