Salary: Up to £32,914 per annum. Designated car user status

The Council is offering an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with the relevant skills and experience to lead its procurement and contract management activity.

You will be the corporate expert in developing modern procurement practices, commissioning and contract management strategies and procedures. You will advise and support service managers on the best methods of procurement and contract design.  There will also be opportunities for you to lead on specific and complex tendering exercises as the Council seeks to deliver savings, maximise its income and secure continued improvement through smarter procurement and effective contract management.

You should possess or be working towards a professional procurement qualification, such as CIPS. You should have practical experience of tendering processes and knowledge of the latest procurement directives and legislative requirements.  You should also have experience of writing contracts and tender documentation, evaluating tenders and awarding contracts as well as an understanding of all aspects of the contracting process including experience of proactively managing contracts.

You will be creative and innovative with strong problem solving and evaluation skills and be able to interpret complex technical information and reach suitable conclusions. You will be organised and have effective communication skills allowing you to liaise with colleagues at all levels and with customers, partners and contractors.
