We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and customer-focused individual, who can fulfil this challenging but rewarding role within the Council’s Capital Works team. This small, dedicated team delivers a wide range of building projects to both our housing stock and the Council’s public building portfolio. The Council have a social housing stock of approximately 4300 homes and the focus of this role is to deliver a high quality aids and adaptations service for this housing stock (a separate Private Sector Housing team deliver the Disabled Facilities Grant service for housing association and private dwelling).
You will independently manage a caseload of adaptations and will need to liaise with a variety of in house and external parties including Occupational Therapists and contractors to deliver both minor and major adaptations. You will be supported by the wider Capital works team to deliver the service.
Customer service is a key part of the role. You will be the primary contact for all internal and external stakeholders for the adaptations service. You will need to be able to communicate effectively and adapt communication methods to provide an accessible service to all users.
The post has a positive approach to training and development and the Council will seek to facilitate appropriate job related training. Please ensure you demonstrate in your application how you achieve the essential and desirable criteria set out in the person specification. Consideration may be given to applicants who do not achieve all essential criteria, but are able to demonstrate a good level of relevant work experience.
We’re looking for an individual who has experience/ knowledge in:
- Working in a housing related field
- Minor and major property adaptations for disabled people
- Property inspections and checking work for defects
- Housing and disabled adaptations related legislation
The ideal candidate would be:
- Someone with excellent customer service and communication skills
- Enthusiastic and well-motivated
- Computer literate
- Someone who represents our GREAT values and behaviours
