Post Ref: L59 - Mediation Co-Ordinator P/T

Salary : £19,623 - £20,913 pro rata per annum. 18.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to co-ordinate the Mediation Service for tenants of council owned dwellings, through the provision of support to volunteer mediators and the co-ordination and allocation of cases.

As the Mediation Co-ordinator you will be the first point of contact for the Mediation Service and will deal with all enquiries from potential volunteers, clients and agencies. You will ensure that volunteer mediators are recruited and developed, along with overseeing their day-to-day supervision to enable them to carry out their role effectively.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Mediation Service operates within nationally recognised best practice guidelines, overseeing the assessment of volunteer mediators and co-ordinating the processes for external assessment and certification of their competence. Through this role you will be able to undertake periodic reviews of the service and prepare reports to inform service developments.

We are looking for an individual with excellent communications skills and the ability to remain impartial and diplomatic. You should be able to support and motivate others to achieve their goals.  You should possess excellent report writing skills and be able to present detailed statistics in a clear and meaningful way.  Based in a small team you should have the ability to work using your own initiative and unsupervised.

This is a part time role and the days and hours of work will be agreed with the successful candidate. Ideally the hours would be spread over five days.
