Salary: £17,364 - £17,711 per annum. Fixed term contract up to 2 years.

If ‘yes to all the above’, you may be the right person to join our busy and varied Finance Team. Broxtowe Borough Council is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant Apprentice to primarily assist in the payment of weekly creditors but also support the Team in testing improvements to the key financial systems.   The Finance Team prepares the annual budgets, statement of accounts and other government returns. The role shall also have exposure to all these elements.This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a genuine interest in Accountancy. The successful candidate will undertake the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), at Level 3 or 4 dependent upon their level of current qualification and experience.   

What you need to know:

  • The role is for a fixed term of around 2 years
  • Working hours are 37 per week, with normal office hours being Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
  • Apprenticeships are available to anyone aged 16 or over and there is no upper age limit.

Successfully shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a formal interview which may include a test/scenario/exercise in order to determine suitability for the role.
