Post Ref: TMPFIO - Temporary Financial Inclusion Officer

Salary: £21,399 - £22,658 pro rata per annum. Fixed term for 12 months.

Broxtowe Borough Council owns and manages over 4000 properties to the west of Nottingham. We are expanding our Income Collection Team following a recent review of rent collection and financial inclusion services across the Borough following the recent roll out of Universal Credit.

We are looking for someone who can assist our tenants to sustain their tenancy and manage their finances. This includes supporting tenants to maximise their income, assist with budgeting skills and advise on welfare benefit issues, particularly related to Universal Credit.

You will work closely with other team members across the department to achieve the best outcomes for tenants. Your negotiation skills and ability to build positive relationships, both with tenants and with other teams and partner agencies will be key to the success of this role.

This is a proactive and demanding role, and you will need energy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deal with cases, some of which will be complex. You will have a proven ability to record and report information accurately both verbally and in writing, and the confidence to manage interviews in person and on the telephone with people who may be in distress. You will be able to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines.

Broxtowe Borough Council offers excellent benefits including local government pension scheme, childcare vouchers and reduced health and fitness membership. The Council also offers a generous holiday entitlement (minimum of 27 days) and flexible working hours.

In return for your skills, knowledge and experience, you’ll enjoy our support in helping you to develop a highly rewarding career.
