Salary: £18,563 - Grade 2 37 hours per week Fixed term (24 Months)

An opportunity has arisen within our busy Business Support Team for an Apprentice to develop a range of administrative skills and to work with the team and other service areas including; Environmental Health, Licensing, Legal, Human Resources and Waste and Recycling to identify where improvements could be made to service delivery and processes.

This job will provide on-the-job training and experience in a varied and interesting environment, you will also undertake level 3 apprenticeship training (Improvement Technician) provided by RHG Consult.

Broxtowe Borough Council has around 750 employees, which includes a wholly-owned Leisure company. The Business Support Team provides a wide range of clerical, administrative and financial support to all Council departments.

You will be expected to work to defined business standards and processes to perform routine administrative tasks. You will be able to work shadow the Business Support Team in various administrative processes, learn how to deal with everyday queries and issues whilst learning problem-solving skills along the journey. You will be required to maintain computerised information systems, including data input across a range of databases; general office support work including emails, filing, scanning/indexing, deal with routine correspondence and handling of mail. As part of the role you will work closely with the team and service areas to identify improvement opportunities and solutions. You’ll be guided throughout the contract by the Business Support Manager and be able to lean on the experience of the Business Support Team.

We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:

  • Dealing with people
  • Administration
  • Using business improvement techniques
  • Microsoft Office Package

 What you need to know:

You must have GCSEs or equivalent at grades A-C/4-9

  • The role is for a fixed term of around 24 months
  • Working hours are 37 per week, with normal office hours being Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Successfully shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a formal interview which will include a test/scenario/exercise in order to determine suitability for the role. Please ensure that you read the description of the Improvement Technician training because you will be asked about this at the interview.
