Salary: £17,364 - £17,711 per annum. 37 hours per week. Fixed Term for 18 months.

An opportunity has arisen within our busy Business Support Team for an Apprentice to formally train and develop the skills to become an efficient member of the team within the section.

This job will provide on-the-job training and experience in a varied and interesting environment, along with undertaking a formal Business Administrator qualification via Apprenticeship Training to suit your needs during the fixed term.

Broxtowe Borough Council has around 750 employees, which includes a wholly-owned Leisure company. The Business Support Team provides a wide range of clerical, administrative and financial support to operational services to improve resilience within the team by expanding skills and knowledge.

You will be expected to work to defined business standards and processes to perform routine administrative tasks, specifically around licensing and financial systems. You will be able to shadow the Business Support Team in various administrative processes, learn how to deal with everyday queries and issues whilst learning problem-solving skills along the journey, maintain computerised information systems, including data input across a range of databases; general office support work including emails, filing, scanning/indexing, deal with routine correspondence and handling of mail. You’ll be guided throughout the contract and be able to lean on the experience of the Business Support Team.

We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:

  • Dealing with people
  • Administration
  • Using Microsoft Word and Excel

What you need to know:

  • The role is for a fixed term of around 18 months
  • Working hours are 37 per week, with normal office hours being Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
  • You will undertake formal training during the contract which will be provided by an external training provider – willingness to travel will be essential.
  • We are happy to consider part-time hours (minimum of 30 per week)
  • While apprenticeships are available to anyone aged 16 or over, our apprenticeship scheme is mainly targeted towards young people aged 16 – 24. Please note that this does not disqualify you applying if you are aged 24 and over.

Successfully shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a formal interview which may include a test/scenario/exercise in order to determine suitability for the role.
