This summer Nottinghamshire County Council have, once again, been appointed the Borough Council as their contractor to undertake grass cutting of the highway verges. The County Council have specified 5 cuts to be spread across the growing season from April to October. The cuts this year will start around the following times.-
1st cut week commencing 11th April 2016
2nd cut week commencing 16th May 2016
3rd cut week commencing 27th June 2016
4th cut week commencing 8th August 2016
5th cut around week commencing 19th September 2016 but exact date to be agreed, depending on growing conditions.
Each cut will take around 2 weeks to cover the whole of the borough. The exact start and finish times will depend on weather and ground conditions.
The grounds maintenance and street cleansing teams will work closely to try and minimise the amount of litter in the verges prior to cutting. Whilst paths will be cleared after cutting the resulting grass will be left on the verges.
The verges in rural areas will be cut on 2 occasions during the summer growing period at evenly spaced intervals, dependent on weather and ground conditions. For all enquiries about highways grass cutting please contact Broxtowe Borough Council using the contact details provided under the 'Contact Us' section.
