More Life Saving Defibrillators Installed Across Broxtowe

19/08/2016 - New defibrillators have been installed in Broxtowe Borough thanks to a partnership between Broxtowe Borough Council and its contractors. New lifesaving equipment has now been installed in Brinsley, Cossall, Toton, Stapleford and Bramcote.

The Council's contractors United Living, Vinshire Plumbing and Heating and Ian Williams, have worked with the East Midlands Ambulance Service and Town and Parish Councils to identify areas within the Borough where Public Access Defibrillators (PADS) could be installed, agreeing to sponsor the project by providing at least 8 defibrillators throughout the Borough.

Defibrillators can be found in the following locations:

  • Cossall (former telephone box)

  • Brinsley Parish Hall

  • The Magpie Pub, Toton

  • The West End Club, Stapleford

  • Memorial Hall, Bramcote

Additional defibrillators are due to be installed over the coming months at Eastwood Town Council Offices/Post Office, in Greasley and Bramcote.

Installing Public Access Defibrillators provides 24 hour access to vital lifesaving equipment.  The defibrillator delivers an electric shock to the heart in an attempt to re-stabilise the rhythm following a cardiac arrest.  In the event of an emergency, the person who called 999 for an ambulance would be given the code to the cabinet and have immediate access to the device.

The defibrillators will be housed in secure metal cabinets located on the exterior walls of public buildings within the community such as village halls, disused telephone boxes, public houses etc.
