Kimberley Celebrates Summer with Packed Programme of Activities

10/06/2016 - A packed programme of free summer activities and entertainment will take place in Kimberley over the coming months, kicking off with Kimberley Jam on Saturday 18th June.

The Kimberley Jam will showcase music talent from across Nottinghamshire with an all-day music event across the town. Performances will start at the Ian Campbell stage in Toll Bar Square from 12.00pm until 5.00pm, with music continuing in pubs in to the evening.

Next up, on Saturday 23rd July from 1.00pm until 4.00pm on James Street is the Kimberley Summer Fun Day with a host of family friendly activities including traditional Punch and Judy shows, face painting, fair rides and more.

Back by popular demand, a Sci-Fun Day will take place on Saturday 20th August from 12.00pm until 3.30pm at Toll Bar Square with a team from the Institute of Physics -East Midlands Branch who will perform physics tricks and hand-held demos using household objects. Children will also be able to take part in some live experiments and pick up a hand out with more experiment ideas they can do at home.  Fitness advisors from the Kimberley Leisure Centre will also be at the event, teaching children about the anatomy and physiology through fitness based activities.

The Kimberley Summer Series will end with Kimberley Heritage Day on Saturday 17th September between 11.00am and 4.00pm at Council Car Parks at James Street, Newdigate Street and Victoria Street.  A classic car exhibition will form part of the event in partnership with the local VW Club, the Midlands Air Cooled Collective. Prizes will be on offer on the day, including Best In Show. There will also be guided walks of the Kimberley Heritage Trail by local historian Roy Plumb. The events have been organised by a range of local groups in conjunction with Broxtowe Borough Council to celebrate the summer months and bring more shoppers and visitors into the town.
