The Great Broxtowe Bake Off Raises £322 For Charity

11/11/2016 - The power of a cake sale can never be underestimated and employees at Broxtowe Borough Council took their tea break with a difference yesterday as they hosted a Charity Cake Sale, which raised £322.73 for Prostate Cancer UK & Macmillan Cancer Support.

Employees hosted the annual cake sale with donations from across all departments, as well as a special 'Broxtowe Bake Off' competition which saw a caramelised onion and cheese quiche take top spot, followed by an Hombre cake and a Chocolate Orange cake in second and third place. The selection on offer sold out by the end of the day.

"Cake sales are such a simple idea but they really do help raise a lot of money. I'm delighted with the amount raised for these two charities and it couldn't have been done without the fantastic support of our employees who organised the cake sale and bake off and who baked away to ensure we had plenty of cakes to sell" said Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Graham Harvey.
