Letter from the Queen for Broxtowe Competition Winner

27/10/2016 - A 15 year old from Stapleford has received a letter from the Queen thanking her for 'splendid' work after she won Broxtowe Borough Council's design a cake competition in honour of the Queen's 90th Birthday.

Tammy Holmes was presented with the letter by the Mayor of the Borough, Councillor Graham Harvey and his wife Ali, as well as a £25 Love2Shop voucher as her prize and a mug featuring her winning design.

Tammy said: "I still can't believe it, it was really good, and my mum is really proud of me. I can't wait to show all of my friends when I get back to school".

The design a cake competition was run for children aged 16 and under through the summer edition of Tenants Matters, a newsletter which goes to all tenants and leaseholders in the Borough.

As extra recognition for Tammy's hard work and efforts, a letter addressed to Her Majesty was sent to the Lady-in-Waiting at Buckingham Palace with a copy of the design. The Lady-in-Waiting responded in writing on 4th October 2016, stating that The Queen wished to thank Tammy for her splendid piece of work.
