New Recreational Space proposed in Colliers Wood

New Recreational Space proposed in Colliers Wood

27/10/2016 - The Friends of Colliers Wood have partnered with Broxtowe's Parks and Open Spaces department to create a new recreational and activity space inside the Moorgreen entrance to Colliers Wood.

The area has been long identified as an underused part of the woodland; it will see the establishment of new seating and tables, landmarked by two mining wheel segments.  The Wheels will mark the area as a focal point of the woodland and will act as display boards for community artwork.  Caunton Engineering has offered to restore, paint and install the wheels in a generous in-kind project contribution.

The Friends are now in a second phase of public consultation after gathering over 1,600 signatures of project support.  They would like to hear from community groups and individuals who would benefit through the creation of this space.  If you feel that the project will enhance your or your group's usage of the site, or if you feel it would allow you or your group to use it as a first-time user, please email Aileen Fergus (FoCW Project Manager) at aileen.fergus@live.co.uk to offer your support in writing.

Please also go to https://www.facebook.com/communitywheelspace/ and like the project page to demonstrate support and to receive project updates.
