Partnership project enables £40,000 worth of improvements to Giltbrook playground

26/07/2017 - Work is close to completion on improvements to a Giltbrook playground, thanks to an investment from local house developer Peter James Homes and Broxtowe Borough Council.

Peter James Homes has provided £35,000 as part of a Section 106 planning permission agreement for its latest development of 91 2, 3 and 4-bed new homes - Pentrich Fields in Giltbrook. This amount will be added to an additional £5,000 investment from the Council whose contractors have been working on the renovations.

The Smithurst Play Area on Smithurst Drive in Giltbrook, is situated adjacent to the perimeter of Peter James’s popular new development close to the Ikea Retail Park and is set to appeal to many of the young families that have already made reservations on the contemporary new homes.

"We’ve been installing additional equipment that will be ideal for a wide range of ages and abilities, creating a really modern and exciting area"

says Councillor Shane Easom, Chair of Broxtowe Borough Council’s Leisure and Environment Committee. “

"There is a rubber impact absorbing surface for the toddlers’ area, plus new swinging, rotating and climbing equipment, so making the park as safe as possible, as well as fun to use."

Peter James Homes MD Simon Gardiner has commended Broxtowe Borough Council for undertaking the work.

"The playground brings a huge amount of pleasure to the local community so we were very pleased to invest in making it safer and more exciting for children and parents"
"Our first show home on Pentrich Fields will be opening towards the end of the summer, so it will be great to be able to highlight to young families considering one of our homes the new and improved play area on our doorstep."

An official launch is due to take place in the coming weeks once the final equipment has been installed.
