Are You Registered For The County Council Elections?

29/03/2017 There’s just over a month to go until voters will be asked to elect members of Nottinghamshire County Council and Broxtowe Borough Council is urging residents to make sure they’re registered so they can have their say.

The election will take place on Thursday 4th May and anyone who is eligible to vote has until Thursday 13th April to register.

 If you are eligible to vote in the election and are already registered, there’s no need to register again.

 Registering is simple to complete in just a few minutes online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or check if you are on the register or not at www.broxtowe.gov.uk/registrationcheck

 Broxtowe residents are advised to plan in advance where they will be on polling day. If they are likely to be away and unable to get to a polling station they can look at options for postal or proxy votes. There are also some changes to polling stations:

  • electors in Chilwell West who previously voted at St Barnabas Church will now vote at Chilwell Community Centre, Inham Road;
  • electors who live in Westby Lane, Kimberley will now vote at Kimberley Primary School, Swingate.

Being on the electoral register is important not only to enable people to vote, but also when applying for things like a credit card or a mortgage as this can help validate information you provide.
