Broxtowe Borough Council Recognised For Commitment To Armed Forces

26/11/18 - BROXTOWE BOROUGH COUNCIL has been recognised as a Bronze award holder in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), for being an armed forces friendly employer.

Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award 2018

The ERS Scheme encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. The Council was awarded Bronze after it pledged its support to the scheme.

Bronze award employers:

  • are self-nominated by employers who pledge to support the armed forces, including
  • must have signed the Armed Forces Covenant
  • promote being armed forces-friendly and are open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners

The Council signed a Community Covenant in 2012, along with other community groups as a symbol of support between the local community and armed forces.

Since then over £240,000 has been invested in local projects thanks to covenant funding, including a new play area at Manor Farm Recreation Ground, Toton and funding for Support Our Forces, Life Beyond The Wire Project and Nottinghamshire YMCA to engage with families and personnel from Chetwynd Barracks.
