Fairy Grotto at D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum

Fairy Grotto at D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum

19/11/18 - Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas at the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum without a visit from the Christmas Fairy. She will be appearing in her grotto at the Museum, along with her woodland helpers, as part of the Eastwood Christmas Lights Switch On event on Tuesday 27th November. Children can ask for their Christmas wishes to be granted, and they will receive a special goody bag and a little sprinkling of her magic.

The Christmas Fairy is joined by two reindeer and a polar bear at the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum.

There will be something for the adults too, with free mulled wine and cakes to try in the Gift Shop. The shop is a great place to find unusual gifts, traditional toys, and original little stocking-fillers for all ages. The event always has a great festive atmosphere and is a lovely way to get into the Christmas spirit.

The Fairy Grotto is open from 6.00pm till 8.00pm, but will open at 5.30pm for those with access needs. There is no need to book, just come along. Admission is £4.00 per child, which includes a goody bag and wishing bauble.

Other fun activities at this year’s Eastwood Christmas Lights Switch On include an arts and crafts fair and entertainment in the Scargill Wall car park, along with music acts and a fireworks display on Alexandra Street. There will be a road closure in place from 6.00pm - 9.00pm along Nottingham Road in Eastwood to allow for the festivities to take place.

The D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00am - 4.00pm, in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. Visitors are transported back in time to view the authentically restored Victorian miner’s cottage, home of the world renowned author.
