Supporting homeless people over Christmas

Supporting homeless people over Christmas

23/12/2019 - What to do if you see someone who may be homeless over the Christmas period.

If you spot somebody that is rough sleeping in the Broxtowe Borough Council area during the period of Monday 23rd December 2019 to Thursday 2nd January 2020, you should take the following steps.

During Office Hours

Please direct the rough sleeper to the Housing Options Team at Broxtowe Borough Council, Foster Avenue, Beeston. Contact number: 0115 917 7777.

The Housing Options Team will be able to refer to the bespoke Winter Night Shelter at Elizabeth House in Gedling or make arrangements for temporary accommodation in the Broxtowe or Nottinghamshire area.

View Christmas Opening Hours for the Council.

Outside office hours

The Street Outreach Team, managed by Framework, is the appropriate agency to contact. They can make a referral to the Winter Night Shelter and/or provide immediate support and guidance to the rough sleeper.  They can be contacted on 0800 066 5356 (24 hours).

The Council can also offer bed and breakfast accommodation for the duration of the holiday period if required and if the night shelter is not appropriate. Please contact 0115 917 7777 and follow the instructions.

Information about other support services, including food banks and places to source clothes and shoes, can be found on the Nottinghamshire Help Yourself directory. (Opens in a New Window)
