The Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme, run by VisitEngland, is a nationally recognised scheme that independently evaluates customer experience at different attractions throughout the country. This is the second time in 12 months that VisitEngland has acknowledged the high standard of customer experience delivered by the Museum.

The assessor who visited praised the Museum for its fascinating tour and the outstanding levels of customer care, enthusiasm and knowledge displayed by its staff members, felt the Museum was truly deserving of recognition of these high standards.

Alex Broughton, Marketing & Communications Manager at Visit Nottinghamshire, said:

“Nottinghamshire prides itself on being a highly welcoming destination for tourists, so we’re delighted to see not just one but two Nottinghamshire attractions recognised by VisitEngland in this way. Both the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum and Rufford Abbey have won prestigious awards and accreditations previously, and this latest addition only helps to strengthen their reputation and the broader reputation of Nottinghamshire as a fantastic place to visit.”

Christina Webb, Duty Officer at the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum, said:

“We are all so pleased that the museum and staff have won this Welcome accolade, it truly reflects how much we care about each visitor and their experience. We currently offer free entry to Broxtowe residents, free children’s trails and craft activities, and have new self-guided tours in the afternoons, so there is something for everyone here at D.H. Lawrence’s Birthplace.”

The D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. Visitors are transported back in time to view the authentically restored Victorian miner’s cottage, home of the world renowned author. The Museum can be explored via guided or self-guided tours.

To celebrate the launch of our new self-guided tours, the museum is offering free entry for all Broxtowe residents for six months.
