Council Working Positively With Horsefair Organisers

18/07/2019 - Broxtowe Borough Council has been working positively with the organisers of a proposed Horse Fair in Nuthall to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely.

“The first Horse Fair which took place in April went really well thanks to positive working between the organisers, the Council and its partners and we’ve been working just as proactively ahead of the proposed event next week” said Leader of the Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE.

“Council Officers are engaging with the organisers to ensure the events take place in as controlled and organised a manner as possible, resulting in a positive experience for both the travelling and local communities.”

Councillor Steve Carr, Deputy Leader of the Council added: “The Council has also looked at all the relevant legislation and have found no cause to implement measures to prevent the event taking place. As soon as we became aware of plans for a second event, we held a Safety Advisory Group (SAG), which we do for all major events in the Borough. This included partners like Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottinghamshire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Pub Watch.”

“One of the issues to arise at the first event in April was around traffic flow into and out of the site. Following the SAG group, organisers have been working with Nottinghamshire County Council to look a traffic control measures to minimise these issues.”
