Pre-Election Briefings For Candidates

04/03/19 - Prospective local councillors and their agents are being given the chance to find out more about the elections process thanks to a series of pre-election briefings on offer in Beeston and Eastwood next month.

Broxtowe Borough Council will host the briefings to share information about the forthcoming election, including the voter ID pilot, nominations process, opening of postal votes, guidelines for tellers, election timetables and count arrangements.

The pre-election briefings will take place at 6.00pm on the following dates:

  • Monday 11 March at the Town Hall, Foster Avenue, Beeston
  • Wednesday 13 March at St Mary’s Church, Church Street, Eastwood

The local elections take place at least every four years in Broxtowe Borough and are due to take place on 2 May 2019.

To stand for election, candidates must either live in the electoral area and be registered to vote there, or have some other close connection with the area, like working there.

Councillors are paid a basic allowance, but may also be entitled to additional allowances and expenses for attending meetings or for taking on special responsibilities.
