Broxtowe Local Plan Reaches Final Stage

Broxtowe Local Plan Reaches Final Stage

24/05/19 - Broxtowe Borough Council’s Part 2 Local Plan is now in its final phase of consultation following the Secretary of State’s examination process

The Local Plan sets out planning policies for the local area, identifies how land is used and helps the Council determine what will be built where.

Broxtowe Borough Council submitted its Part 2 Local Plan to the Secretary of State on 3rd August 2018, and Planning Inspector Helen Hockenhull undertook Public Hearing Sessions between Tuesday 4th December and Thursday 13th December 2018.

As part of the examination process, the Inspector has identified a number of proposed Main Modifications.  A Main Modification is an amendment to the plan which is considered necessary to make the plan sound and / or legally complaint, and is required in order to address concerns raised by the Inspector during the examination process.

Broxtowe Borough Council has prepared a schedule of Proposed Main Modifications and will run a public consultation for a period of 6 weeks from Friday 24th May to 5pm Tuesday 9th July. All relevant documents are available to view on the Council’s website. You can also view them in person at Broxtowe Borough Council Offices, Foster Avenue, Beeston, NG9 1AB.

To respond to this consultation please complete the online response form (Opens in a New Window). Paper copies are available at the main Council Office and at libraries throughout the borough. Response forms can be sent via email to or by posting them to the Planning Policy team at the Council Offices, Foster Avenue, Beeston NG9 1AB.

All responses will then be forwarded on to the Inspector for consideration. The Inspector will then issue a final report on whether she considers the Local Plan sound and / or legally compliant.
