New Mayor Installed In Broxtowe

16/05/19 - BROXTOWE BOROUGH has a new Mayor. Councillor Michael Brown was installed as the 43rd Mayor at the Council’s Annual Meeting last night (15th May), marking his twentieth year as a Broxtowe Borough Councillor.

Mayor of Broxtowe: Councillor Michael Brown

Michael is a well-known figure in the local community where he runs ‘Mick Brown Cycles’ in Eastwood and he intends to use his love of cycling to raise money for his chosen charity, Trent Cardiac Unit and Nottingham City Hospital.

Michael will be donating all proceeds raised to the charity, where he hopes to support the construction of a memorial garden and the purchase of much needed equipment.

Michael was first elected to Broxtowe Borough Council in 1999 and during his time as a Councillor he has served in many different roles, including a member of the Planning Committee, Vice-Chair of the Environment and Community Safety Committee, Chair of the Environment Examination and Inquiry Group as well as a Cabinet member for many years.

Michael takes over from past Mayor (2018/19), Derek Burnett BEM, following his successful year in office which saw him undertake 269 engagements and raise over £7,400 for SSAFA and East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Councillor Janet Patrick, a Labour Councillor for Beeston Ward will assist Michael as the Borough’s Deputy Mayor.
