Stapleford's Vision For The Future Announced

25/02/20 - Plans for Stapleford’s ambitious Town Deal bid took a step closer last week as its Executive Board met to share ideas for the town and discuss the results of a recent consultation on what local people wanted to see for Stapleford in the future.

“We’re making really good progress with generating ideas for Stapleford to help us make the most of this once in a life time funding opportunity,” said Ian Jowett, Chair of the Executive Board. Members of the board

“It’s great to see our local residents getting involved and helping to shape the future of the place they call home. We’ve just sent out a leaflet to all homes in the area to explain what the Town Deal is all about and I’d urge everyone to have a look through this to see what an opportunity we have for Stapleford moving forward and suggest any ideas they might have to help us create the best investment plan we can.”

Local residents and community groups are invited to take part in the next Stakeholder Board which will take place at 2.00pm on Friday 28th February at the Carniege Centre, Warren Avenue, Stapleford.

The Stakeholder Board helps ensure that local people are kept at the heart of the Town Deal process. They gather ideas and provide feedback to the Executive’s Board who are responsible for drafting a Town Investment Plan which will be submitted to Government in the summer. At this week’s meeting they will be asked to

  • Consider examples of Vision Statements and provide further insight on the aspirations for the town.
  • Rank ideas generated from Stakeholder and Public Consultation responses - in context of local, regional and national economic strategies.

Last year, it was announced that Stapleford would be among 101 towns to benefit from the £3.6bn Towns Fund, which aims to give a boost to areas in need of an economic lift.
