Have your say on what Dovecote Lane Play Area could look like

22/06/20 - Refurbishment works are planned for the Dovecote Lane Play Area in Beeston later this year and Broxtowe Borough Council is asking local people what they would like to see as part of the improvements.

Residents can give their feedback at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/dovecotelanepark(Opens in a new window)

As part of the survey, they will be asked to select their favourite play equipment and what type of look and feel they would like to see at the play area.Old play area at Dovecote Lane

The responses will help inform a bid to the FCC Communities Foundation for additional funding to make the area even better. In recent years working with FCC, the Council has been able to secure in excess of £300,000 of additional funding to further improve the play areas in Broxtowe. The Pride in Park Initiative has seen 16 Play areas improved in the Borough in the last 2 years.

“Unfortunately, with the current restrictions in place we are unable to go to local schools or run a paper based consultation on the park, so if you use the play area, or if you know anyone who might, please help us provide the kind of equipment you would like by taking part in our consultation and sharing the link with friends and family. The more people that respond the better we can provide an area to meet the needs of the local community,” said Councillor Helen Skinner, Chair of the Environment and Climate Change Committee.

“Whist it is unfortunate the Borough’s play areas have had to be closed due to the virus, the Parks Team have taken the opportunity to undertake work to repair and repaint the equipment whilst it is quiet, so that when we are able to open up again they will be in tip top condition. The programme of “Pride In Parks” play area refurbishment has also continued, and we are well on the way to completing a replacement area at Hall Om Wong on Eastwood Road in Kimberley,” she added.

The survey is open until 13th July to ensure that the Council can meet funding application deadlines.
