As COVID-19 has resulted in many challenges for businesses this year, local businesses need your help more than ever – and it’s never been easier for Broxtowe residents to show their support.

Here are five tips on how you can support small businesses in Broxtowe this Christmas:

  • Shop for handmade products - By shopping locally you will find many places where you will discover amazing handcrafted items that are not available anywhere else.
  • Leave a review - Have you visited a local business and felt happy with your experience? Leave them a review on social media or Google, and spread the word by sharing your thoughts and experiences to help others find the business.
  • Buy farm fresh - This Christmas, consider buying directly from a local farm shop, or your local greengrocers or butchers. There are weekly markets in Beeston and Stapleford, offering a variety of goods from fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, eggs and more. You can see when the markets are taking place here.
  • Attend fairs and markets - If there is a fair taking place near you, it may be helpful to both you and businesses, to attend and discover gifts or food products which can’t be found on the high street. Next week Kimberley’s Christmas market is taking place on Tuesday 21 December, which is an excellent opportunity for residents to contribute to the local economy and get any last minute gifts and supplies.
  • Use Broxtowe Borough Council’s free parking - The Council will suspend parking charges for all Pay and Display Car Parks (apart from Station Road and Technology Drive) from 18 December - 1 January. Visitors will be able to park for free when visiting town centres. You can find full details on our car parks webpage.
