£4.7m Support Grants Paid to Broxtowe Businesses this Week

20/01/21 - £4.7million has been paid to Broxtowe businesses affected by the recent Tier 4 and National Lockdown restrictions, this week.

Broxtowe Borough Council has administered the Government’s latest business support grant scheme as quickly as possible to ensure that businesses can receive much needed funds to support them during the lockdown.

Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE, said: “Businesses have had it tough this past year and grants like this could be a lifeline for many. By giving this help to them now, we can potentially save our high streets so there continues to be life and personality in our town centres after the pandemic. When things get back to some kind of normal, these are the places we will want to go to and enjoy the company of others in shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Supporting these businesses now is critical”.

Deputy Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, Councillor Steve Carr, said: “Keeping business afloat during the pandemic is one of our most important tasks as a Council. Our team administering these grants have worked quickly to find a way to pay out these vital funds, as simply as possible, to those who are eligible. Every day of business lost is a body blow for those businesses, the people that work so hard to run them, their families and those who they employ. We have helped them quickly and efficiently during this very challenging time.”
