Additional Free Bulky Waste Removal Week for Residents this Winter

20/01/21 - NOW FULLY BOOKED. Broxtowe residents can take advantage of an additional free bulky waste removal week this winter to help them dispose of large items like furniture and fridges. This additional free collection week will be the week of 22nd February 2021.

Broxtowe Borough Council have so far, this winter, organised three free bulky waste weeks as part of their Clean and Green campaign to help keep the area tidy and reduce cases of fly tipping in the area. The Council decided to add another week due to high demand for more free bulky waste collections.

A collection week has so far taken place in December another is scheduled for a week in January and a third week of 1st February is already fully booked too. This additional week, just added by Broxtowe Borough Council, will take place the week of the 22nd February, with bookings being taken from Monday 25th January.

Chair of the Environment and Climate Change Committee, Councillor Helen Skinner said: “Our free bulky waste weeks have always been popular with residents but this year we have seen huge demand for this service. It could be partly down to the pandemic but also that residents are being more responsible than ever with their waste and wanting to make sure it is disposed of the right way. We are delighted to be adding another free bulky waste collection this winter and hope it is as well-used as the others”.

Broxtowe Borough Council are asking residents who want to book a slot on this date, to call 0115 917 3855 from Monday 25th January 2021. Enquiries received before this day will not be processed. Items must be left outside 72 hours before collection.

If residents are unable to book a slot on any of the free bulky waste collection weeks this winter, they can still take advantage of the Council’s bulky waste collection service with payment. The service costs £13 per collection, plus £7 for each item of waste collected from the home address.
