''This incident is absolutely devastating. Thankfully it is also very unusual for this type of crime to take place in our Borough. We would urge local residents to remain calm and continue their normal lives within the current national COVID-19 restrictions.”
Inspector Simon Riley, Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for the Broxtowe borough, said: “We are working closely together in partnership with the Council and other partners to reassure the public and increase confidence and we continue to stand together in engaging with and supporting our local communities during these difficult times.
“We will continue to work closely with our partners to tackle local issues, reduce crime and ASB and make Broxtowe a safer place for people to live, work and visit.
“I’d also like to reassure people that the police will continue to deal robustly with anyone believed to be involved in criminal behaviour and violence. We will investigate all crimes reported to us and we will respond swiftly and positively to concerns raised with the aim of preventing offences before they happen.”
