Exciting year ahead for Stapleford’s £25m Towns Deal bid
You told us what you thought we needed to invest in to make our town’s future even brighter. The proposal, being submitted at the end of the month, includes:
- Stapleford Enterprise Hub – comprising a ground floor indoor/outdoor market, first floor office space and roof top garden
- Community Pavilion Facility
- Traffic management strategy for the Town Centre and a Cycle Super Highway
Ian Jowett, born and raised in Stapleford and now running a property development company, Chairs Broxtowe’s Towns Deal Board. He said: “We have a big ambition for Stapleford, a small town with a big heart and even bigger potential.
“We are proud of our heritage, our ambition and our community spirit. We have an exciting, once-in-a-generation opportunity to forge a prosperous and inclusive new future and build a lasting legacy for everyone.”
The aim of the Town Investment Fund will create a reinvigorated, reimagined town centre, encourage new businesses, increase local skills, create new job opportunities and create new facilities in the area.
Ian added: “Over the next month we will celebrate this project milestone by sharing stories of some of our residents and businesses to show what this investment will mean to them.”
In October last year, seven communities across England were told they would benefit from up to £178.7 million in new Towns Deal funding. Feedback from government about the Stapleford proposal is expected by May 2021.
