Get discounted bus travel and combat climate change with Green Rewards!

21/07/2022 - Residents in Nottinghamshire can benefit from a 15% discount for adult and group day tickets on Nottingham City Transport (NCT) buses, plus be in with the chance to win a monthly NCT bus pass worth £60!

The partnership between Nottingham City Transport, all eight Nottinghamshire Councils and Nottinghamshire County Council is now available through the Notts Green Rewards programme – a website and mobile app free for everyone with Nottingham postcodes to enjoy.Nottinghamshire councillors promote Green Rewards in front of NCT bus

The Notts Green Rewards programme incentivises residents to learn about and take action on climate change by reducing waste, shopping sustainably, encouraging local biodiversity and more! Residents earn points for their actions and, each month, there are £20 vouchers for the top performers - and now the chance to win a monthly NCT bus pass worth £60!

Residents should sign up for free at or download the Green Rewards app on iOS and Android to access a code that will enable them to travel at the discounted price. Search for ‘Notts; Green Rewards’ in device’s app store.

The 15% discount offered by NCT is available as a mobile ticket through its NCTX Buses app, where residents can also plan journeys, look up timetables and check the live departure times for buses. Search 'NCTX Buses’ in device’s app store.

NCT has released 120 bio-gas, double-decker buses onto Nottinghamshire roads, preventing 26,000 tonnes of CO₂ and 180,000 kilos of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) from being emitted over the last five years. This latest collaboration encourages residents to make more sustainable travel choices by leaving the car at home, and hopes to support residents during the cost of living crisis.

The Nottingham Green Rewards platform launched to residents in October 2021 and is a unique initiative funded and driven by all the Councils across Notts including Ashfield District Council, Bassetlaw Borough Council, Broxtowe Borough Council, Gedling Borough Council, Mansfield District Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council, Nottingham City Council, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.

Anthony Carver-Smith, Head of Marketing of Nottingham City Transport said “Sustainability is at the top of our agenda at Nottingham City Transport, and as we start to see people return to bus after the pandemic, our partnership with local councils through the Green Rewards scheme is a great way to encourage more people to travel by bus and make Nottinghamshire the green travel capital of the UK. We can’t wait to see where this collaboration takes us!”

Portfolio Holder for Environment, Councillor Helen Skinner, said “We’re delighted to accept this offer from Nottingham City Transport to support us in our Green Rewards scheme so we can all take part in more sustainable behaviours and benefit from cheaper transport. We hope many will take this great opportunity to sign up if you aren’t already part of the scheme.”
