£6,000 Grant For Beeston Royal British Legion
The Council’s Cabinet agreed the grant on Tuesday (24th May) which the RBL Social Club will use to continue refurbishment works to ensure the building meets health and safety standards.
Councillor Greg Marshall, Portfolio Holder for Resources and Personnel Policy said: “The Royal British Legion Social Club has played an essential role in supporting Broxtowe’s veterans for over 70 years and is an incredibly important venue in the Borough. This grant will make certain that improvements can be made to ensure the safety of guests and staff.”
Located on Hall Croft the social club is a registered ‘not for profit’ society which opened in 1949 to continue the legacy of the Royal British Legion, which formed in 1921 following the First World War. Its purpose is to provide support for veterans and a space where residents of surrounding areas can enjoy social activities and events which include fundraising for good causes. Around 300 to 400 people attend the venue on a monthly basis.
More information on the social club can be found through their official Facebook page (opens in new window).
